With the current political climate, college campuses across the country have become safe havens for marginalized communities. Yet, there are still college campuses that actively discriminate while touting inclusivity and social justice. We interviewed three trans students that live on a religious university's campus and are affected every single day by the housing policies, and inadequate bathroom situations.

Storyline:
A modern retelling of the norse mythology. Fr. Mike (Wes Studi) has hidden a piece of Thor's hammer from Lok-eye, a viking warlock. Lok-eye kidnaps three children every spring and forces their mothers to find his prize. The only one immune to the Warlock's powers is Eric Thornton, called The Ugly One since he was a child. Eric only wants to win The Steel Gloves, an all out fight contest with a prize trip away from the madness. Fr.Mike must convince Eric to defeat the Warlock and save the very people who have treated him so cruelly his whole life.

Review:
Patrick Moug's The Ugly One was a unique and fresh take on a much-used genre. Horror movies can be a dime-a-dozen, but this one combined a creepy vibe as well as an intelligent storyline. The movie had great production values and used varied and interesting locations, creating an atmosphere of a much bigger budget movie. I was impressed by the use of so many outdoor settings without the washed out look that normally comes with these kinds of shots. The night shots must have been very difficult to get as well. The use of digital film enhanced the professional feel of this movie. Written by djwan
